Well, Howdy!

So, here I am, sitting in my bedroom trying to figure out what to write as my first blog post. Now, to really get what I’m saying here, you need to understand the circumstances of what “sitting in my bedroom” really means.

I am sitting in my bedroom.

At my mom’s house.

Where I grew up.

In the room I grew up in.

As a thirty three year old, married for twelve and a half years, mother of five.

But, hey, at least I’m dressed today!

Here’s the thing: we just moved. My husband got a job that allows him to work from home and travel when he’s not home so I convinced him to pick up and move our entire family across country back to my home in Texas from Utah.

I haven’t lived here, like, really had my own space, since we were newly weds back in 2005. We picked up in 2006 and moved to Idaho for my husband, Josh, to finish school at Brigham Young University Idaho.

The day we moved in, I found out I was pregnant with numero uno, a boy we named Scott. Ten years later, we’ve added three girls and ¬†another boy, so, I have a ten year old, eight year old, six year old, four year old, and a two year old. I wanted to live near my family again, so we got our house in Utah ready to sell, put it on the market, and moved to Texas… in my mom and dad’s house… and we live in my old bedroom.

So, here I am, sitting in my bedroom.

I wanted to start this blog because I wanted to document our travels, our life, and our hopeful new business of breeding English Cream Golden Retrievers! This blog is meant to share our gratitude, lives, victories, and losses.

And I can’t wait to get started!

No, really…

I’d been packing our house since May of 2016. I knew I wanted to move the moment I got back from a trip to San Antonio to visit family. I told Josh and we agreed to talk it over. We officially decided we’d be leaving in October. We worked together to do some home improvements, basically made the house exactly what we’d always wanted it to be, and packed.

And packed…

…And packed.

Josh and I talked about having the children and I leave early so he could finish the basement without kids and dogs in the way. We loaded up most of our belongings and made a long, cross country trip to San Antonio at the beginning of March 2017. We stuck all of our stuff into a storage unit and moved in with my parents.

Then we waited for our house to sell so we could find a new place here.

We put our home on the market at the end of April 2017.

It sold in less than two weeks!

God is good.

We found a home, the place we didn’t realize we’d been praying for, a few days after our house in Utah went under contract.

But… now we’re waiting. Our house in Utah has yet to close. There are obstacles and issues and craziness and drama and I’m done! I’m ready to be in our house.

Don’t get me wrong. My parents are saints. We lived here when Kaitlyn was brand new while Josh did his internship with a local company. But that was three kids and zero pets ago.

Now we have five kids, a dog, and two cats.

And we just put a deposit down on a seven week old English Cream Golden Retriever I want to name something classy but nerdy at the same time! Something like Leia or Hermione or Arwen or Rose!!

So, yeah. Here I am, sitting in my room.

Still.

Crazy.
